Maximum Survey Size
Our platform will allow you create a survey with unlimited question groups and questions, but it is important to note there are limits to the size of a survey that can be activated for data collection.

The reason we don't cap number of groups or questions when you build a survey is that there are use cases where you might want to create a Master survey that you use to create new surveys from a subset of questions in the master survey.

An active survey can have a maximum 1000 response columns. This could mean 1000 radio type questions, or a 1000 open text questions. But some question types will use more than 1 column for a response (notably Multiple Choice and Array).  Each possible answer in a survey counts as a column -- so if you have an 10 Array/matrix questions that each have 10 columns and 10 rows - you will have 10 x 10 x 10 response columns, which equals 1000 columns, and will then reach the maximum survey size.

As a workaround, you can split a single survey into multiple surveys, and set each preceding survey to have an End URL that redirects the participant to the subsequent survey in the chain. You can then set each separate survey to Automatically load the End URL when each survey is completed (thus directing the participant to the next survey automatically -- you can disable the welcome message on subsequent surveys so participants are immediately shown the first question in the next survey.

To link individual responses together, you can prefill a question of the second survey with FirstResponseID={SAVEDID}, and then pass the answer to FirstResponseID through to all the other surveys.

Later, when you export your data to SPSS or other offline data analysis tools, you can use the value of FirstResponseID  to join all your responses together.

Note that link surveys may not be an option if you have many conditional questions that bridge the two surveys. In that event, you will need to restructure your survey, reduce the number of questions, or consider how to create a set of linked surveys that are mutually exclusive with respect to conditions.

To see how to pass a parameter between surveys, refer to:

Passing Answers & Values from one survey to another :

If you survey has conditional questions, you may need to pass through additional parameters can you can use for evaluation in subsequent surveys.
We greatly appreciate your feedback.
